Great insights, especially the evolving principles part. Out of curiosity what is the main way you find useful in getting user feedback, is it surveys, spilt testing, user testing or just a mixture?

We tend to go down the spilt testing path rather than the surveys route to work out if something is better for the customer and look more closely at the numbers
